Squid Game Viral, Netflix Is Even Threatened To Be Sued By Internet Providers

Even though it has been released since last September 17 on the Netflix streaming service , the Korean drama Squid Game is still quite busy being discussed on social media until early October. However, the conversation about the drama doesn't always have a positive context, but also a negative one. In fact, recently the popularity of Squid Game has made the Netflix streaming service threatened with prosecution, you know!

Reported by Reuters , the claim came from SK Broadband, which is an internet network service provider in South Korea. SK Broadband sued Netflix for burdening their network due to increased internet traffic resulting from the release of the Squid Game series . Reportedly, SK Broadband had to process 1.2 trillion bits of data only for Netflix services after the drama was released.

The problem is that Netflix reportedly doesn't pay anything to SK Broadband even though it has been using their network for a long time. In fact, Netflix is the platform with the largest amount of traffic in South Korea. Until this article was written, Netflix is reportedly going to review this issue while ensuring that their consumers are not affected by anything.

The claim from the internet network service provider is not the first controversy that Netflix has received after the Korean drama Squid Game was released. Because, some time ago Netflix was also threatened with being prosecuted and imprisoned for displaying someone's real phone number in the series . Fortunately, this incident reportedly ended peacefully after Netflix compensated the owner of the number money.
